The FA Playmaker Course To Launch This Spring

New online course will be free and perfect for anyone looking to take a more active role in grassroots football.

In April, The FA will launch The FA Playmaker supported by BT - our new, free entry-level football course for volunteers in the grassroots game.

And you can now register your interest here to be among the first to hear when it goes live.

Open to anyone aged 14 or over, it's completely free, all online and requires no previous football experience or qualifications to join.

Once signed up, you’ll be introduced to the 'brilliant basics' for making safe, fun and inclusive football happen at a grassroots level.

Over five online modules, you’ll discover how to:

  • make football 'For All'
  • connect with their players
  • create fun sessions
  • keep football safe
  • take your next step

To be among the first to hear when it goes live, you register your interest here for our email updates.

Once you’re signed up, you’ll automatically be entered into our free prize draw to win one the following prizes:

  • Tickets to The FA Community Shield
  • Signed England shirt
  • Playmaker training kit bundle worth up to £250.

One other thing…

We appreciate you may not want to take a supporting role and may see yourself leading activity at a grassroots club, centre, or programme.

So while the modules won't quite make you eligible for leading roles, we are making the option available for you to become an FA Lead Playmaker.

It's a step on from the modules and involves taking these extra qualifications:

  • The FA Safeguarding Children Workshop
  • The FA Introduction to First Aid in Football
  • DBS Check (required if intending to lead sessions with under-18s)

Once they've been completed, as an FA Lead Playmakers you will be eligible for lead volunteer roles within FA participation programmes - such as at Wildcats and Just Play - and grassroots clubs.

Register your interest and be the first to know when The FA Playmaker goes live here.
