Gareth Cowin Memorial Tournament 2020

The Isle of Man FA / Special Olympics team travel to Gibraltar on Thursday 23rd January to take part in the Gareth Cowin Memorial Tournament on Saturday 25th January 2020

As the present holders of the trophy, Gibraltar will host the tournament which will include 2 teams from Algeciras, Gibraltar and the Isle of Man. In advance of this tournament, it has been agreed that for 2021 the Gareth Cowin Memorial Tournament will take place in the Isle of Man, regardless of who wins this year’s competition.

Frank Stennett IOMFA Chief Executive, who will travel with the party as one of the appointed Isle of Man coaches, commented “It is always a real pleasure to accompany the team on any trip. Over the years we have established strong bonds and lasting friendships with our hosts from Gibraltar and it will be good to meet old friends again. The players are really looking forward to taking part in the tournament which forms part of the 2020 Disability Football programme we have in place with Special Olympics Isle of Man. I am delighted that Mrs Anne Corlett MHK is also travelling with the Isle of Man party to further our relations in Gibraltar.

For next year we have all agreed to bring the Gareth tournament ‘back home’ to the Isle of Man. We will then have the opportunity to play this well-established tournament on home soil and welcome other teams to the Island.

Finally I would sincerely thank Michelle and Tommy Quinn from TCQ Limited for their kind and long standing support to our Disability Football programme “
