IOM Advance into Second Round

The Isle of Man Senior Men's Team advanced into the Second Round of the FA Inter-League Cup on Saturday.

Paul Jones' team faced Peterborough & District League in his first game in charge of the side and took the lead early on. After just 2 minutes, Jack McVey's brilliant free-kick was headed home by Sean Quaye at the back post to give the Manx side an early advantage. Peterborough equalised just 60 seconds later, a great through ball by Mark Baines found Scott Spearink who finished past Sam Holliday. The IOM regained the lead on 22 minutes and this time it was roles reversed. Lee Gale's corner found Quaye at the back post who headed back across goal for McVey to score. The IOM scored again just 4 minutes later, Gale intercepting Peterborough's left back Kev Brader's pass to curl a shot past Lea Jordan.

Just 30 seconds into the second half and the IOM stretched their lead. Debutant Michael Williams' cross from the left found fellow debutant Furo Davies to volley home to score his first goal for the side. Chances were created in the 2nd half for the Manx side to further the lead but the game finished 4-1.

Paul Jones' side will now face the winner of Liverpool County and current holders West Yorkshire in the next round.
