The Isle of Man Football Association and the Manx football community will be delighted to hear the fantastic news that 16 year old island resident Adam Long has been offered a two year contract at Wigan Athletic FC from next season.
The local St Georges FC player has shone in his displays whilst playing in defence for St Georges first team and for the Isle of Man Under 18’s team over recent months. He has also now managed to impress Wigan Athletic FC coaching staff whilst training and playing academy and youth team fixtures for The Latics.
Adam played a strong part in the successful Union Mills FC junior teams on the Island over a number of years and has always represented his local secondary school at football; Ballakermeen High School. Adam trained within the IOMFA Centre of Excellence programme from the Boys Under 11’s category through to the Boys Under 18’s squad. Over recent seasons he has also attended an IOM Sports Institute Strength and Conditioning programme to support his physical development. This past year he also went the extra mile to work hard on his ‘fitness for football’ at Sports Performance Services Ltd.
Everyone at the Isle of Man Football Association wishes him the best of luck at Wigan Athletic FC over the next two seasons.
Well done Adam and good luck!
