Women Win Island Games SIlver Medal

The Isle of Man Women's Team have won the Natwest Island Games Silver Medal in Gotland

The Manx side faced hosts Gotland in Gutavallen Stadium in the Women's Final.

After a goalless first half the Isle of Man took the lead on 56 minutes when Jade Burden capitalised on a mistake in the Gotland defence to finish past the goalkeeper to score her third goal of the tournament. The hosts equalised on 81 minutes through Hilda Nygren and with the tie looking to head towards extra time, Gotland scored the winner through Ellen Olofsson with just 3 minutes remaining. An agonising defeat for Michael Quilliam's side but the manager will be very proud of the Girls on reaching the Final and claiming a fantastic Silver Medal.

Isle of Man XI vs Gotland- Greggor, Groves (Bell 36m, Teare 84m), Hicklin (C), Sumner, Halsall, Costain (Corkish 46m), Dillon, Gawne, Wignall, Burden.
