IOM FA Cup Schools Day 2009

Cronk Y Berry Win!

The event was held on Saturday 16th May at Union Mills Football Club and involved all Primary Schools from around the island – totalling 33 teams and over 320 children!

The day started well with all schools raring and ready to go. At 10am the first matches were played and the competition began. The schools were split into 4 groups ensuring every child received a fair amount of football throughout the day and every school and their players did not disappoint.

We were lucky with the weather until about lunchtime when the rain came. It rained for an hour or so, and the schools continued on with everyone trying their hardest to beat the opposition and the Manx weather! We were fortunate enough that the rain had cleared and the sun arrived for the Semi finals and stayed around for the Final too!

The final saw the winners of the Small Schools group Kewaigue take on Cronk Y Berry. It was a tense final with Cronk Y Berry the deserved eventual winners by 1 goal.
