Saturday 3rd April saw the EOn FA Cup Schools Day
Union Mills FC hosted the 2008 Isle of Man FA Cup Schools Day ‘Millennium’ Competition. The event saw 31 primary school teams enter U11’s teams with over 300 boys and girls playing and the same amount of parents and spectators watching the action.
Ballacottier Primary School ran out eventual winners over Albert Road in the final after some thrilling quarter and semi-final matches. All schools competed with great spirit – a comment which Minister for Education, Ann Craine shared in her presentation of awards.
The IOMFA Development Team would like to thank Union Mills for hosting the event and the staff at Garey Moar who helped with everything from pitches to food, schools and parents for helping the day run smoothly and to the 17 Young Leaders from Castle Rushen, QE2 and Ramsey Grammar school who refereed all 120 matches and judged the Fair Play scores for every game, which St Johns Primary School eventually won.
Overall the event was a great success and the Development Team are looking forward to the Girl’s only version of the competition on Sunday July 13th.
