At the EOn FA Cup Schools day held at Union Mills, the Western Primary School won the fair play award. This was judged by Young Leaders on player, parent and coach behaviour from over 120 mini-soccer matches.
The behaviour levels amongst the large football family were excellent and St Johns topped the league with a great display of sportsmanship. As a result, the school were presented with a mini-soccer Umbro playing kit to go towards creating new year 3 and 4 teams for next season.
St Johns also received a Goalpost Safety Grant from The Football Foundation for £350 to purchase two new mini-soccer goals for next season. Headteacher Nigel Bennett and teacher, Peter Lewis said that the grant will go a long way to helping the school develop football in the near future.
