The event was attended by over 60 volunteers who had been selected by their county FA’s. Representing the Isle of Man were Alan Corlett (Ramsey), Ben Crookall (Peel), Nicky Cooil (Colby) and Max Perry (Castletown).
The event was opened by Crewe Alexandra director of football, Dario Gradi before the quartet spent the rest of the day in practical workshops.
FA North West Skills Coach Team Leader Paul Bright and England women’s international, Fara Williams took a session on age appropriate coaching, FA North West Regional Coach Development Manager, Graham Keeley led on Inclusion in Football and Premiership official, Trevor Massey delivered a session around refereeing.
The day was a great insight for the young volunteers and the Manx crew performed especially well with Nicky and Alan being selected by the FA staff to attend The FA National Young Leaders Camp in Nottingham for a week in July. The best performing Young Leaders at this event will go onto the FA International Young Leaders Programme in Cape Town later this year to deliver courses, sessions and festivals to children in townships.
