Isle of Man FA - developing football for everyone
Development - take your skills to the next level

Women and Girls

Girl's and Women's Football is now the most popular female sport in the country and is still the fastest growing.  In the last season 133,000 players competed in affiliated league and cup competitions.

FA research has shown that more than 1.5 million girls under the age of 15 played some form of football over the past 12 months and it is our aim to engage those girls in competitive school teams or youth clubs.

Women's football on the Isle of Man started back in 1999 with the Douglas Royal the first winners of Division 1 and DHSOB the first division 2 winners.

Since then, the female game has progressed on a huge scale with the arrival of girl's leagues within the Junior League.

The senior women's Island team achieved their best result to date in 2006 by winning the Umbro.com Championship deafeating Acton Ladies 1-0 in the final.

In Summer 2007 they also just narrowly missed out on a bronze medal at the Natwest Island Games in Rhodes - losing on a penalty shoot out to Bermuda.
