The Isle of Man Football Association’s Development Scheme has continued to thrive and build on past accomplishments. Through the delivery of FA initiatives, we have endeavoured to meet the needs of the Island’s footballing communities providing quality football provision for all.
The creation of an IOMFA Development Team, working alongside key partners will provide the opportunity of a more extensive and efficient delivery of the priority football development initiatives on the Isle of Man, namely: Education, School-Club link, Women and Girls’, Disability, Small-Sided, Club Development, Coach Education, Volunteer Development, Social Inclusion projects, the IOMFA Development Centre, and Facility Development.
Coach Education on the Island is about to enter it's most prosperous year to date in 2008 with the launch of numerous brand new courses as well as four scheduled Level 1's and a Level 2 CCF in May.
The FA Charter Standard Scheme has been a great success with both clubs and schools. Of the Island’s 27 member clubs, 10 are now certified.
The main challenge Manx football faces in 2008 is the recruitment and retention of volunteers. On the field, our game is developing rapidly to the extent we need similar recruitment of more volunteers to become referees and club administrators.
The Football Development Plan 2008 is focussed upon ‘Start, Stay and Succeed’ and the core business of the Football Development Team focuses upon the following key outcomes: increasing participation, improving levels of performance, and widening access to football. This is achieved through three key areas of work; Club Development, Education Development and the Football Workforce.
